Visions: Florian Nagler

Florian Nagler opens the new video series "Visions". He is a fighter for simple building. The Munich architect got to know the influence of architecture on our environment – the built and the unbuilt – as a young person. At the same time, he was influenced by the traditional architecture of his homeland, rural Bavaria. In his vision for current and future construction, the carpenter, architect and university professor Nagler combines these influences into the demand for simple construction.

In the 30-minute conversation with the architecture publicist Christine Müller, he explains the different dimensions of his position. On the one hand, there is the personal level. Everyone should think about "whether we really need all this and whether it is not possible with less and whether we can perhaps even be happier there". At the same time, Nagler appeals to his colleagues to rely more on architectural means instead of relying on an increasing mechanization of architecture in order to achieve a calculated better energy balance, for example.

Prof. Florian Nagler has headed Florian Nagler Architekten with Barbara Nagler since 2001. Since 2010 he has been Professor of Design and Construction at the Technical University of Munich.

Christine Müller is an architecture journalist. In 2002, she began her work at “Österreichischen Wirtschaftsverlag” as a specialist editor of the architecture magazine Architektur & Bau Forum, whose editor-in-chief she took over in 2012 and held until her appointment at the end of 2020.
